athletic experiences, individualized instruction, and a variety of student services that contribute to
student goal attainment and the development of productive and responsible citizens.
Mission Statement: In partnership and collaboration with parents and community members, Elkhart
Independent School District dedicates its efforts and resources to the benefit of all students by
providing an integrated educational program of quality, equity, challenge, and Academic Excellence
Through Innovative Instruction.
About our Community: Elkhart is located ten miles south of Palestine at the juncture of State
Highways 287 and 294 in Anderson County. The community and surrounding area feature wooded rolling
hills, small lakes, and pastureland. Elkhart is a rural community involved in agricultural, timber,
and cattle producing pursuits. Clean air, pure water, historical sites, and beautiful scenery
contribute to the local charm of our area. The small size of the school allows it to maintain a
family oriented atmosphere that enhances its position as a community center for educational, cultural,
and athletic activities. Should you visit Elkhart, please allow us the opportunity to extend our
hospitality.
