EHS hosted two Financial Aid Workshops for senior students and parents during January and February. I hope you were able to attend. Completing the FAFSA is the FIRST step to acquiring financial aid in the form of grants, loans, or scholarships from ANY institution in the United States.  Distribution of monies is on a first come basis, so it is imperative that you complete the FAFSA as quickly as possible!  To expedite the process, you can apply online.  However, both the student and the parents MUST get a pin number to access the applications.

I.                     Testing Information

A.      Remember, if you are going to college you must register, take and pass, or be exempt from the THEA before you can enroll in college classes. Register @ www.thea.nesinc.com. If you have not taken the THEA (TASP) and are not exempt from it, you MUST make arrangements to do so before you can register for many classes at any Texas college, university, or trade school.  I have registration bulletins for the THEA (TASP) in my office. The dates for registration and test days are also on our school website. You may call TVCC to obtain information on when they are administering the next “Quick THEA (TASP)” at 903 729-0256.

B.     If you are planning to go to a four-year university or applying for scholarships, you need to take the ACT or SAT as soon as possible in order to get your scores back in time. If you are planning to go to a two-year junior or community college, find out when their summer orientations are and plan to attend one. Four- and two-year colleges will give you a campus tour and let you pre-register for courses, in most cases. ACT website:  www.act.org; SAT website: www.collegeboard.com

II.                   College Financial Aid Information

A.  If you are planning to go to a four-year university, you should have already

applied for admission, but if you haven’t, do so ASAP by using the

COMMON APPLICATION or apply online at www.applytexas.org.

B.     If you have not filled out and sent in the new FAFSA free financial aid

form, you need to start preparing to do so. You may apply online @ www.fafsa.ed.gov.

You may also call Cully Rogers at TVCC @ 729-0256 or 800-433-3243 if you need

assistance filling out the paperwork. This form will require your income tax
