Course Descriptions:
| English 7 - In this class, we emphasize and practice various types of writing using the writing process. We focus on developing organization, elaboration, and voice in the student's writing. Additionally, language and grammar skills are reviewed, taught continuously, and practiced in our compositions as we prepare for the TAKS Writing Test in the early spring. Beginning in March, we examine some literature, write about what we read, and expand our writing to include summaries, news, and creative pieces. Our goal is for each student to improve his/her writing skills. |
| Advanced English 7 - In this advanced class, we practice writing with detail and clarity and use the writing process. It is expected that these students already have excellent basic language skills (spelling, punctuation, capitalization, etc.), but we still prepare thoroughly for the TAKS Writing Test. We focus on elaboration, organization, voice, and creativity in varied types of writings. We examine a novel and use it as a model for writing. Additionally, we expand our writing to include myths, plays, news, and mysteries. The goal for each student is to improve his/her writing skills through extensive practice. |
