6^th Grade Beginner Band

2^nd & 3^rd Periods

In Beginner Band, we learn how to play our instruments and how to read music and rhythms.  We are separated into smaller instrument groups during class instruction.  We play two concerts a year in the winter and spring and attend the Sandy Lake Fun Fest competition in Dallas in the spring.  The beginner year is the basis for all band instruction at Elkhart ISD.  

7^th and 8^th Grade Band

4^th and 6^th Periods

The Middle School band consists of all 7^th and 8^th grade band students.  7^th graders will have band 4^th period and 8^th graders will have it 6^th period.  This group performs several times a year.  In the fall, we play at the middle school pep rallies as well as a home football game performance.  Like the beginner band, we also have a winter and spring concert.  The middle school band also will perform at UIL Concert and Sightreading contest in the spring.  Opportunities also exist for students to be recognized on an individual basis.  Capable students audition for the all-region band and perform at solo and ensemble contest.
